We were on the road again today. This time it was our local rivals Gowerton at Victoria Road. We were keen to put some of the mistakes from last week at Blackwood behind us and the coaches had worked with the kids on a number of things including defence and line speed.
The kids were definitely up for it and we started well. Gowerton won the toss and elected to receive the kick off. We put the ball deep into their half and began to attack immediately. The forwards and backs worked well and went through the phases before we scored our first try of the afternoon. Gowerton were aggressive at the breakdown and made our pack work hard for the ball. We kept at it though and put them under a lot of pressure. We kept moving through the phases and some lovely handling saw us score some lovely trys. The first half ended 40-0 to Dunvant.
We were keen to keep playing in the second half and asked the kids to keep to the game plan and move the ball out wide. We did this and scored another brace of trys early on. The forwards and the backs worked really well together and we managed to score another two try’s before the whistle went for full time. We did cross the line again but an heroic tackle from Gowerton saw Ben being held up over the line.
So it was back to winning ways and it was good to see all the kids performing well. We had a wonderful welcome from our hosts Gowerton and look forward to welcoming them to Broadacre for the return fixture.
All the kids did extremely well today but Player of the Game was awarded to Harrison Dyke for his impressive handling and game management. Well done kids and we look forward to seeing you at training on Tuesday.
