Result 40 - 20
Venue: Broadacre
Date: 21st Oct 2022
Given the biblical weather conditions, it was a miracle that this game was played at all this evening. We are getting accustomed to our Friday night games and we were in for another treat as we welcomed Swansea Uplands to Broadacre.
The downpour meant that we could only play on half a pitch and we had to drop to 12-a-side. However, the limitations were worth it so that we could give the girls and boys a game.
We were slow starting and Swansea Up
lands were keen to run hard at us. They crossed the whitewash first with an early try from a penalty deep in our half. They kept the pressure on from the restart and threw the kitchen sink at us. Ellis was quick to respond with a lovely try and we are now coming to expect these tries every game from our little speedster. It’s no wonder that he’s been selected to run for West Wales! Well done Ellis, we are all chuffed to bits for you mate!
Swansea Uplands battled hard though and came back at us with another two unanswered tries and we thought it was going to be a long night for us. However, Evan managed to weave some magic and get over the line for a try before halftime. We were trailing by 15-10 when the halftime whistle went.
We battled hard after the break, and George was an absolute menace as far as Swansea Uplands were concerned. He tackled, jackled and rucked his way through a shed load of work and gave our backs some lovely ball to attack with. Evan cut the line several times and partnered well with Iestyn, scoring some lovely tries as a result. Not happy with a brace, Evan went on to claim his hattrick, just minutes later. Iestyn also attacked the line well and was rewarded with a brace of toys for himself.
At 30-10 we thought we’d done enough. However, our guests were having none of it. The battled hard and worked their way up filed to bring it back to 30-20. So, we dug in deep and got back to the basics. The forwards carried well and continued to win ball on the floor. Shortly after we were rewarded when Reedo broke the line to score on his return. Last but not least, George was rewarded for his man-of-the-match efforts with a try of his own before the final whistle went. It ended at 40-20 and we were really proud of the kids again.
We’d like to say a special “thank you” to the Under 11s boys who were superb tonight and didn’t look out of place at all. Well done everyone 👍 👏
See you in training on Tuesday.
