Result 24-19
Player of the game: Harrison Reed
Match Report

After a few weeks on the road it was good to play at Broadacre under the lights. We were hosting Swansea Uplands this evening, and they were trying out a few new players.
Tom was captain tonight and, after winning the toss, elected to receive the ball. Swansea Uplands came out all guns blazing, and we struggled to contain them. Both teams battled for the ball but they dis-possessed us with a number of good rips before we were able to get our rucking game going. We had a team that hadn’t played much together as we were trying different combinations, but the kids got stuck in, and we came away with the first try of the evening.
We were on top at the end of the first half, but Swansea Uplands made us work for everything, and they kept coming at us. Their scrum half was a menace and kept testing our defence. We scored again after the interval, but Swansea wasn’t about to let us have it our own way. They came back with a try of their own, and the game was a battle throughout. Harrison Reed was on fire tonight, though and he carried the ball well and beat a number of defenders to score the try of the night. A special mention also needs to go to George Poole who played his first game in the back row. He looked to be enjoying himself out there!
Swansea Uplands kept knocking at the door, though and just wouldn’t lie down. We stayed ahead for the entirety of the game, but they kept it to one try all night. They pushed us hard towards the end of the game to try and make it honours-even, but we managed to hold them out, and the game finished 24-19 to the hosts.
It was a great game of rugby, and both sides played the game in the spirit that was a joy to watch. When Reg blew the final whistle, went into the sheds to tuck into a well-deserved plate of pasta.
Harrison Reed was awarded Player of the Game for his monumental effort in the loose and superior ball-carrying skills. He had a hattrick to boot as well.
We have a short turnaround now before welcoming Pyle RFC to Broadacre on Sunday. Well done boys and girls 👍
